Rain is always an issue in the summer. Games will be played in the rain as long as the field does not become unsafe. Any observed lightning, games will be halted. Wait a minimum of 30 minutes from the last observed lightning or thunder before resuming activities.
The league covers a large geographic area, the players and parents should never assume that because it is raining in their area, it is raining at the fields. Please assume the game will be played unless you are notified otherwise.
Lake Park serves Lester Park, Lakeside, Lakewood, Homecroft, Rice Lake, Lake County, and parts of the Woodland and Kenwood communities. Many ball players have gone through our program better prepared for other sports, more confident in their social skills, all while learning the game of baseball and having fun!
Little League International will be adopting a new baseball bat certification in 2018. This means any and all bats purchased in 2017 or prior will NOT be legal to use after the upcoming 2017 baseball season; or as the rule reads beginning January 1, 2018. This affects all levels from T-Ball to Junior levels. Senior ball will not change and will still be using the BBCOR standard. In the Junior Division BBCOR bats will NOT be allowed in 2018. If you decide to purchase a new bat for your player this season be aware it will only be eligible for use for this 2017 season. It is anticipated that bats traditionally costing hundreds of dollars will be selling for 50% off or more. There will be more information regarding the new bat certification in the coming weeks and months as. To see the new identification certification stamp and for more information go to www.littleleague.org
Please keep in mind this change is being enforced by Little League International and Lake Park does not have the option to opt out.
Congratulations Red Sox for being the 2016 Majors regular season champions.
I want to thank all Majors parents, coaches, umpires and players for a successful 2016 season.
Age change, players are baseball age as of September 1st starting in 2018
In 2018 baseball bats will have to be USA baseball approved. Approved bats will not be available until 2017.
State is July 27th in Coon Rapids
Districts are still being decided, Starting around July 10th
All-star documentation for players is now good from year to year. So if player was on all star team last year and has a signed affidavit from President and District, they do not have to fill out a new one!! So keep your records!
Little League has changed the age requirements to better line up with school ages.
If your child was born between January 1 and April 30, there has been no impact in any of the Age Determination Date changes.
If your child was born between May 1 and August 31, there is no change from the previous age change and implementation.
If your child was born between September 1 and December 31, he or she essentially reverts back to where they were from a League Age standpoint prior to the 2015 season, and, like those born between January 1 and April 30, there is no impact on them.
